The Press and its books

University of New South Wales Press has a reputation for producing thinking books for thinking people — books that create debate and tackle social and intellectual issues. UNSW Press, founded in 1962, has won many awards for its books – The Prime Minister’s Prize for Australian History, the NSW and Queensland Premier's Literary Awards, the Ernest Scott Prize, Design Awards, Whitley Prizes and National Book Council Awards.

Publishing with UNSW Press

UNSW Press publishes around 70 books a year under three imprints, New South, UNSW Press, and Choice. Prospective authors should read our Guide for Authors.

Publishing Partnerships

UNSW Press also develops publishing partnerships with a wide variety of institutions, individuals and organisations, where we offer our professional services to produce books on their behalf. Sales

UNSW Press is the only Australian university press with its own dedicated sales force. NewSouthBooks is the marketing and sales division of UNSW Press and acts as an agency for many other Australian and international publishers and groups. We have also been in retail for over 35 years, most recently with the University of New South Wales Bookshop, serving a community of 30 000 students and 5000 staff.
